Course Instructor and Field Observer, Colorado Geological Survey, Colorado
Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).
Learn about the anatomy of avalanches, avalanche accidents and rescues
in Colorado, and how to recreate safely in Colorado's backcountry during
the winter.

Geological Survey leaders Jim Cappa, John Keller, Chris Carroll
and Professor Robert Weimer (Colorado School of Mines) will teach
you all about minerals, coal, aggregate, and oil and gas found
near the Front Range in Jefferson County. Visit areas of active
and inactive mining!

10/19/2002 Pedal to the Past: A Mountain
Bike Trek to the Purgatoire River Dinosaur Trackway
Leaders Matt Morgan (CGS Geologist) and Joanna Wright (UC-Denver)will
take you on a mountain bike trip into the continent's longest
dinosaur trackway. Come pedal to more than 1300 footprints exposed
along the banks of the Purgatoire River. Tracks were featured
in National Geographic.
